Poe's Law and 4e

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Poe's Law, it runs something like this:
"Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody...that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

So with grateful thanks to Fools Jest, on whose blog I found this and thought "Hahahahahaha!", we have the following example:

Er...this is a parody, right?

  2. It was WOTC's own April fools joke. They are actually snarking back at their detractors.

  3. @the-never - but that's just the point of Poe's Law; a parody that a lot of those who don't like 4e would have no trouble believing.

A lot of people who saw that probably thought "There's a lot of truth in that".

So is it an own goal by WotC? Or have they displayed an ironic self-awareness and an ability to laugh at themselves?
